Amy Myers began painting at Arts Access several years ago. In that time, she has grown into a talented artist with her own signature style. In this interview, we ask Amy about her process, inspiration, and the anticipation of being featured in Full Circle.
How long have you been painting?
Three or four years
What does being an artist mean to you?
What it means to me is freedom of speech. I can paint what I please.
Where do you find inspiration for your paintings?
Right now, I’m working on a space painting, cause sometimes I wanna go to space. So sometimes I paint space because that’s one of my favorite stuff to do.
How would you describe your style as a painter?
It’s my own. I can’t really describe it to a lot of people because it just comes in my head. So it’s my own. So if you know me, you will know the painting.
What do you like most about painting?
I like to paint because it makes me happy and to think of the other places that I wanna see.
Are there any favorite tools you like to use when you paint?
One tool I like to use is the EXACTO knife. That’s a knife that I can just put colors on a canvas. I can just do what I want to do.
Are you looking forward to Full Circle?
Yes, I am because that’s an honor to me and the other artists. It means people are gonna see my work and know what it means to me. So yes, Full Circle is a big deal for everyone, especially me, but it’s a big deal for every artist.
Anything else you’d like to say?
Good luck to the other artists and have fun! Because we all deserve it.
Some final thoughts from Amy:
