Celebrating 10 Years
This exhibit is now live! Click here to visit the gallery landing page.
We are excited to announce the 10th annual Rutgers NJMS Collaborative ARTS Exhibit, featuring work by artists from Matheny Arts Access and JSDD’s WAE Center. Both programs are dedicated to enabling individuals with disabilities to create fine art. The artistic process is an undeniable source of empowerment for people with disabilities, and the work included in this annual exhibition is a testament to the success of each of these programs.

NJMS Collaborative ARTS Exhibit 2020
10th Annual Exhibition
online July – August
This annual exhibition is one that is highly anticipated each year by our artists and staff. Knowing that this year marked the 10th anniversary of this special collaboration, we were all the more excited to celebrate this year’s exhibit. However, when COVID-19 and #StayAtHome orders started to change our day-to-day lives, we knew that the Collaborative ARTS Exhibit would not be quite as we envisioned it this year. Refusing to let this momentous anniversary pass by, we found ways to adapt the exhibition for a virtual space.
The virtual gallery for the NJMS Collaborative ARTS Exhibit will go live in early July and will run through the end of August. We are currently exploring options for a virtual closing reception, and will share more information when available.
About Rutgers NJMS
The nation’s best medical schools are known for providing the highest quality medical education, research, patient services, and community outreach. At Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, these priorities are combined with a commitment to constant innovation and progress as we keep our mission, vision, and values in mind.
About JSDD’s WAE Center
JSDD’s WAE Center is a holistic, creative and expressive arts learning center for people with disabilities, dedicated to “Finding the Spark Within”.
JSDD (Jewish Service for the Developmentally Disabled) is a multi-purpose agency dedicated to providing an integrated program of community education, advocacy, and services for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. At JSDD the expectations for quality extend beyond what services and supports may be available to what life fulfilling experiences are possible. Our philosophy supports the notion that there are no limits to those possibilities.
The WAE Center Art Studio is a place where members are invited to explore creating fine art through painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, jewelry design, and digital art. Members work both independently and with the guidance and support of trained facilitator mentors in an environment that is founded on neutrality and inclusion.
Arts Access is grateful to the following organizations for their generous support of this event and other projects from Arts Access.
