In a testament to the enduring power of artistic expression and inclusivity, the Arts Access Program is set to make a triumphant return to the prestigious halls of Sotheby’s. Following their groundbreaking exhibit in 2019, where artists with disabilities showcased their remarkable talent, this revival promises to once again captivate audiences with fresh perspectives and unparalleled creativity. With a new cohort of artists ready to unveil their work, the stage is set for another inspiring display of artistry and diversity.

In 2019, the Arts Access Program made waves in the art world with its groundbreaking exhibit at Sotheby’s. Featuring works exclusively created by artists with disabilities, the showcase shattered stereotypes and opened doors to a more inclusive art community. From paintings bursting with vibrant colors to more subtle minimalistic compositions, each piece spoke volumes about the depth of talent present in the program.

Now, five years later, the Arts Access Program is poised to once again grace the halls of Sotheby’s with its presence through Sotheby’s Impact and Social Responsibility program. This eagerly awaited return not only signifies a continuation of the program’s mission but also heralds the emergence of new Arts Access voices and visions within the artistic landscape. With a diverse array of mediums and styles, the upcoming exhibit promises to be a celebration of creativity in its purest form. The exhibit “Art Without Boundaries” represents the rich history and creativity of the program.

Central to the excitement surrounding the return of the Arts Access Program is the introduction of new artists into the fold. These individuals, each with their unique backgrounds and experiences, bring fresh perspectives and narratives to the forefront. From seasoned creators to emerging talents, the lineup reflects the program’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and empowerment through art. This year’s featured artists represent a long history of Arts Access participation and creation with the works of Jessica Evans, Paul Santo, Bari Kim Goldrosen, Karen Frascella and Tammy Heppner sharing their voices through their work.

The return of the Arts Access Program to Sotheby’s represents more than just a showcase of art; it’s a reaffirmation of the inherent value of every individual’s creative expression. As new artists take center stage, their work serves as a reminder of the boundless possibilities that emerge when barriers are broken and voices are heard. In a world where art has the power to unite, inspire, and empower, the Arts Access Program stands as a beacon of hope and possibility for generations to come. The exhibition “Art Without Boundaries will be open to the public from Friday, March 29, through Sunday, April 7, 2024. Sotheby’s is located at 1334 York Avenue, New York, NY.

The Arts Access Program is designed to inspire, uplift, and encourage the aspirations of artists with disabilities. It encompasses painting, digital art, sculpture, choreography, creative movement, creative writing, and drama. Arts Access artists are able to freely express themselves regardless of physical limitations. Working one-on-one with professional facilitators, the artists create a unique vision that is truly their own. Arts Access facilitators use carefully designed and clearly-defined charts and menu systems to help establish all aspects of communication between the facilitator and the artist, enabling the artists to create pieces of work that are distinctly their own. Arts Access is a program within the Matheny organization. To learn more about Matheny visit www.matheny.org.
