Counterpoint – Reception Recap

Exhibit at CCA Bedminster

Gallery wall with exhibited paintings at Center for Contemporary Art "Counterpoint" exhibition in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Thursday, October 5, was a night filled with creativity and inspiration at The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, NJ. Art enthusiasts from near and far came together to celebrate the opening of “Counterpoint,” a group exhibit featuring 27 original paintings by 17 Arts Access artists. The exhibit stems from the definition of “counterpoint,” meaning “to emphasize by contrast,” which embodies the idea that every painting is so different and individual and yet, as a group, they come together to form a cohesive body of work.

The evening began with welcoming remarks from CCA Director Cyndi Wish and Arts Access Exhibits and Collections Coordinator Julia Halsey, who then facilitated a Q & A with the ten artists in attendance. The artists had plenty to share about the inspiration behind their paintings as well as their artistic process. Guests had the opportunity to ask the artists questions about their work, which led to an inspiring discussion about the arts. After the Q & A, artists mingled with attendees and enjoyed refreshments. The evening concluded with closing remarks from New Jersey State Council on the Arts council member, Kevin O’Brien.

Counterpoint” will remain on view in the CCA’s second-floor gallery through Friday, December 8. Join us at the CCA on Monday, November 13, for a special “Facilitation Experience” workshop with Arts Access Performing Arts and Outreach Coordinator, Heather Williams. Stay tuned for more details and registration information.

Congrats to all of the artists participating in this exhibit! And thank you to The Center for Contemporary Art for this exciting collaboration.
