NJMS Collaborative ARTS Exhibit 2023

13th annual collaborative exhibition with

Rutgers University, Matheny Arts Access, and JSDD’s WAE Center

Welcome to the 13th annual Rutgers NJMS Collaborative ARTS Exhibit, featuring work by artists from Matheny Arts Access and JSDD’s WAE Center. Both programs are dedicated to enabling individuals with disabilities to create fine art. The artistic process is an undeniable source of empowerment for people with disabilities, and the work on view is a testament to the success of each program.

Two Opportunities to View

We are pleased to once again offer two opportunities to view the artists’ work both virtually and in-person. If you aren’t able to see the show in-person at Rutgers NJMS, we are offering a virtual edition of the exhibit that can be viewed on desktop and mobile devices. By taking advantage of this hybrid viewing experience, viewers from near and far can take part in celebrating the work of this talented group of artists.

This year’s exhibition features vibrant paintings and drawings by artists from Arts Access and artists from the WAE Center. We can’t wait to share this collaboration with you!

Virtual Artists Reception

This year’s artists reception will be held virtually, via Zoom, on Monday, June 26, at 6 pm. This FREE event provides the opportunity to hear directly from the artists as they share their thoughts on art, the creative process, and showing their work at the annual Collaborative ARTS Exhibit at Rutgers NJMS. Registration for the event will be available soon.

The virtual gallery will be available June 26 – August 31. During that time, you may click on the image below to explore this year’s exhibition.

About Rutgers NJMS

The nation’s best medical schools are known for providing the highest quality medical education, research, patient services, and community outreach. At Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, these priorities are combined with a commitment to constant innovation and progress as we keep our mission, vision, and values in mind.

About JSDD’s WAE Center

JSDD’s WAE Center is a holistic, creative and expressive arts learning center for people with disabilities, dedicated to “Finding the Spark Within”.

JSDD (Jewish Service for the Developmentally Disabled) is a multi-purpose agency dedicated to providing an integrated program of community education, advocacy, and services for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. At JSDD the expectations for quality extend beyond what services and supports may be available to what life fulfilling experiences are possible. Our philosophy supports the notion that there are no limits to those possibilities.

The WAE Center Art Studio is a place where members are invited to explore creating fine art through painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, jewelry design, and digital art. Members work both independently and with the guidance and support of trained facilitator mentors in an environment that is founded on neutrality and inclusion.
