More or Less

An Arts Access virtual exhibition

Arts Access is pleased to present “More or Less”, a virtual exhibition focusing on the painting practice of four artists: Benjamin Cuison, Lloyd Decker, Philip Fisher, and Nancy Soto.

Full of Details

The title, “More or Less” speaks to the artistic styles and techniques of this group of artists. Benjamin Cuison and Lloyd Decker are maximalists; in their paintings, you will find a variety of textures, colors, and shapes. Their processes involve lots of movement, with the paint splattered, rolled, sprayed, and even thrown onto the canvas.

Subtly in Artworks

On the other end of the spectrum are paintings by Philip Fisher and Nancy Soto, which appear more minimalist in style. These artists are more interested in process and form rather than movement, resulting in meditative color studies, hard-edged shapes, and an appreciation for simplicity.

There is no right or wrong way to express creativity, and looking closely at the diverse portfolio of works by these four artists emphasizes the importance of balance not only in art, but in our lives.

The More or Less exhibition will be available online February 8 – March 21, 2024. To view, click on the gallery image below.
